Embroideries [Broderies no original, em francês] de Marjane Satrapi e The Best of American Comics 2006.
Tens uma bd que seja a tua preferida de sempre?
Talvez a bd que mais me influenciou: Twisted Sisters, uma antologia de bd feminina publicda em 1991 e editada pela Diane Noomin. E também qualquer uma das colectâneas da série Underworld de Kaz e The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book de Bill Watterson.
Quando e onde compraste a tua primeira bd?!
No liceu, na Fat Jack’s em Filadélfia: um número dos Freak Brothers.
Que autor de bd, para além de ti, é que gostarias de ser?
Não faço a mínima ideia. Admiro muito o trabalho de outros autores, mas claro, não sei se queria ser algum deles.
Qual é o teu material de desenho preferido? Alguma marca em especial?
Lápis: lapiseira de minas Pentel Twist Erase, 0.9 mm e 0.5 mm; borracha: Staedtler Mars de plástico, Papel: Strathmore Bristol Plate 500 Series; tinta: tinta-da-china preta da Pelikan; pincel: Windsor & Newton Nº 1, Série 7.
Onde é que foste jantar fora pela última vez? Seguiste as sugestões dos chefe?!
Ontem à noite, sushi. A sugestão do chefe? Não percebo bem o que queres dizer com isso. Não pedi nada de especial ou que estivesse fora do menu.
Ainda tens o teu quarto de adolescente em casa dos teus pais? Está “intacto”, costumas visitá-lo?
Não, nenhum dos meus pais é dono das casas onde cresci.
Ellen Forney é autora de bd e ilustradora, também ensina bd no Cornish College of the Arts de Seattle. O seu último livro, I Love Led Zeppelin: Panty-Dropping Comics, Fantagraphics, é uma hilariante recolha de tiras publicadas em várias revistas e jornais norte-americanos.

What comic[s] are you reading now?

Do you have a all-time favorite comic book?
Probably the most influential comic book for me is Twisted Sisters, an anthology of women’s comics from 1991, edited by Diane Noomin. Also, any of the Underworld collections by Kaz, and The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book by Bill Watterson.
When and where did you buy your first comic book?
High school; Fat Jack’s in Philadelphia: one of the Freak Brothers comics.
What comic artist, beside yourself, you would like to be?
I have no idea. I admire a lot of other cartoonists’ work, of course, but I don’t know that I’d want to be them.
What is your favorite drawing material? Any specific brand?

Last night, sushi. The chef’s suggestions? I’m not sure what you mean. I didn’t ask for anything special or off the menu.
Do you still have your teenage room back at your parents house? Is it “intact” and do you visit it?
No, neither of my parents still own the homes I grew up in.
Ellen Forney is a professional cartoonist and illustrator, she also teaches comics at Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts. Her latest comic book I Love Led Zeppelin: Panty-Dropping Comics, by Fantagraphics, is a hilarious collection of strips published in several magazines and newspapers.
