Tens uma bd que seja a tua preferida de sempre?
Talvez The Rabbi’s Cat de Joann Sfar e Jetlag pelo [colectivo] Actus Tragicus.
Quando e onde compraste a tua primeira bd?!
Quando era pequenina, costumava comprar bds do Pato Donald com a minha mãe no supermercado.
Que autor de bd, para além de ti, é que gostarias de ser?
Gostava de ser o Joann Sfar! É tão rápido! E os desenhos dele são tão bonitos.
Qual é o teu material de desenho preferido? Alguma marca em especial?
Costumo desenhar com pincel e tinta, depois digitalizo e dou cor no Photoshop.
Onde é que foste jantar fora pela última vez? Seguiste as sugestões dos chefe?!
Estava de visita a Nashville, Tennessee, e fui com o meu namorado a uma churrasqueira, já que Nashville é mais ou menos conhecida por causa disso. Não era lá muito chique, por isso não havia um “chefe”. Só uns tipos novos a cozinhar e nada sugeriam.
Ainda tens o teu quarto de adolescente em casa dos teus pais? Está “intacto”, costumas visitá-lo?
Tive, até a minha mãe se mudar, quando eu tinha 20 e poucos anos. Mas ela continua a ter um quarto de hóspedes, com as minhas tralhas antigas. (Muito embora eu tenha dois irmãos, as tralhas deles não estão no quarto de hóspedes.)
Sara Varon [1971, Brooklyn, Nova Iorque - U.S.A.], ilustradora e autora de bd. Sara foi nomeada, categoria de Novo Melhor Talento, na edição dos prémios Harvey em 2004. Editou a novela gráfica Sweaterweather e Chicken and Cat, valendo-lhe este último um prémio de honra em 2006 no Parent’s Choice. Publicou há pouco Robot Dreams, uma novela gráfica [quase] “muda” que conta a história de um cão que compra um kit de robot. Está a trabalhar na continuação de Chicken and Cat, a publicar em 2008. What comic[s] are you reading now?

Do you have a all-time favorite comic book?
Probably The Rabbi’s Cat, by Joan Sfar, and Jetlag by Actus Tragicus.
When and where did you buy your first comic book?
When I was very small, I used to buy Donald Duck comic books in the supermarket with my mom.
What comic artist, beside yourself, you would like to be?
I would like to be Joan Sfar! He is so fast! And his drawings are so beautiful.
What is your favorite drawing material? Any specific brand?
I usually draw with brush and ink, and then I scan it and color in Photoshop.
What was the last place you went out for dinner? Did you followed the chef’s suggestions?
I was visiting Nashville, Tennessee, and my boyfriend and i went to a barbecue place, since Nashville is kind of known for that. It wasn’t very fancy, so there wasn’t exactly a ‘chef’. Just some young people cooking, and they didn’t make suggestions.
Do you still have your teenage room back at your parents house? Is it “intact” and do you visit it?
I did until my mom moved, when I was in my early 20’s. But she still has a guest bedroom for when people visit, but it is full of my old
stuff. (Even though I have two brothers, their stuff is not in the guest bedroom.)

She published the graphic novel Sweaterweather and the picture book Chicken and Cat, a 2006 Parent’s Choice silver honor award winner. Sara recently published Robot Dreams, a [nearly] wordless graphic novel about dog who purchases a robot kit. She is now working in a sequel of Chicken and Cat due out in fall 2008.
